I have one of the Star Super B's that have hit the market.
The magazines, designed for 9mm Largo, are too long and will often cause the first round of a fresh mag to nosedive into the feed ramp. The rest are fine, but it bothers me severely.
So my question is, is anyone familiar with a very long 9mm factory round?
Or any magazine fixes? I've considered getting a single stack 9mm mag and attaching a spacer to the rear and drilling a new mag-catch hole... but I'd prefer not to jerry rig stuff.

My Seecamp mags have a spacer inside the mag, so the longer than Silverips wont fit. Maybe something like that would work here. Might have to fiddle with the follower.

Not sure on the OAL of the Largo. Could you use 147 grain bullets and leave them long?

Maybe, but I don't reload so it'd be an issue...

If I stuck a spacer in the mag, it'd have to go in the front or the feed lips won't be long enough. So, I'd have to cut up the follower and I don't want to do that to $40 magazines.

There are no 'Extra Long' 9mm loads.

SAAMI Max length for the 9mm Luger cartridge is 1.169".

That will generally be found with FMJ-RN of 124 grain weight factory loads.
Or more likely, slightly less.

However, even then, most all factory ammo is loaded to less then 1.169" to insure it will still work in out of spec magazines.

Max length for the 9mm Largo is 1.320".
So you need a .150" spacer in the back of the mag.

That can be done fairly easily with a removable wire spacer like this in mags with a removable base-plate.

That still does not address the excess headspace problem if your gun is chambered for 9mm Largo.

It's a 9mm Luger chambered gun. Thank you for the wire link, I'll try it this weekend and post the results.

Which I was just looking at. I didnt realize they were that much longer. I assume they headspace on the case mouth, and you'd be relying on the extractor to hold the case?

If I understand what you're saying it sounds like you have a Star Model B in 9mm Luger. But somehow you ended up with mags for the 9mm Largo? Is that correct?

If your gun is for the 9mm parabellum it will say that on the slide.

If so you can locate mags for the Star in 9mm on the web. A good many Star's were produced in 9mm and proper magazines for them are available.
