Congrats on the WASR10, now dremmel out the mag well, and buy some double stack mags, and you'll have it lookin "evil" like this:D and you can shoot more ammo without having to reload of course!

I have the GP WASR-10 and it will take double stack mags because the tabs are removed from the well.

I did a little work on my wood. I rubbed in some Cherry stain and put on a few coats of Tung Oil and that's that... I didn't do it for looks but to protect the wood so it will last.

Here is a photo of the finished product:

Just make sure you swap in enough US-made parts to make the 922(r) police happy. :neener:

As built from Century:

1-FCG = 3 BATFE Browney points
1-US PG = 1 BATFE Browney point
1-Polymer Pro-Mag = 3 BATFE Browney points

7 BATFE Browney points = 922r compliant.. you only need 5 BTW

As far as I know, my GP WASR10 has the TAPCO trigger group, hammer, gas piston, and all the other US compliant parts on it. I love my AK, its been nothing but fun since the day I brought it home. The only bad thing about it is, it spits empty shells a good six-ten feet, and I run the risk of hitting other shooters at the range.

dremmel tool eh......

it looks simple enough to do but i don't really want to alter the gun in any way. so does any one know of a source for single stack ak mags at a decent price if i have to i will stick with 10 rounders.

edit... tried google looking for single stack mags.. no dice so any help would be great.

I don't think I've really seen any single stack mags that hold more than ten rounds. Fortunately, WASR10s that readily accept single stack mags can be had for around the same price you paid for the single stack WASR10, so if you don't want to alter the gun in any way, then my suggestion to you is, buy another WASR10 that already accepts double stack mags. Now here's where it gets interesting. Some people have bad luck with the WASR10s that accept double stack mags, but mine has been flawless so far, even after 2,500 rounds. Some folks complain about the mag wobble, since the WASR10s don't have the dimples inside the mag well that hold the magazine steady, instead it has two plates welded on either side. The mags I've used so far don't wobble that much, and all have been flawless. Once you shoot your single stack AK that you have, you'll be wanting another one, and it all goes from there. You'll have an AK collection before you know it. :D Here's a site for good info on AK47 variants.

Jdoc,
The slight "fix" to allow the use of double stack mags is totally legal, easy to do and will save you money. I highly doubt you will be able to find single stack mags and if you do they will be very expensive.

Cope's has 30 round mags that are supposed to be used but are in New condition for $12.99. They are a great store to shop for anything you need for your AK because they have a ton of stuff and are very professional people to deal with. The page is very large and there are a lot of different mags on the page. I'm not talking about the plastic mags.

They are marked:
All steel construction. Mags are in like new condition.
