I don't know what the deer is in the op, but it isn't a whitetail; note the rounded rump. Also, I don't believe whitetails lose their spots until their gray winter coat comes in.
Penninsula Florida deer are a sub species and properly are Osceola deer....smaller and lighter bodies. Color variances range from the usual brown/gray to nearly red. A full grown heavy racked 9 point that I killed in the Ocala Nt. Forest a couple years back weighed all of 154 biologist guessed him at about 6 yoa....And yeah, they are just now losing their spots, I have about three does with fawns on my place and all have shaded out just like the photo....I'm about 60 miles south of Jax.
Also, you fellows from the north would also be surprised at the physical appearance of Florida's wild turkeys.....very long legged, lighter that the eastern variety and colored quite differently. Also known as "Osceola" birds.
I opend my back door one night and I hit something, I whip out my flash light and I see a cute little skunk stare around the door at me, then start hopping around waving his tail at me while bouncing, I quickly shut the door.
I caught a baby skunk around my 18th birthday and kept her for about a month. She was adorable and never sprayed, the morning after I caught her I noticed her cooler was open, I went to get out of bed and she was curled up against my side. It took my parents a whole month to find out about her.
