I vote for the Benelli Nova. It's a darn nice gun. I've had two of them and used mine for duck and goose hunting. It works in any weather and is easy to break down and clean.

Just keep your gun cleaned and oiled...Rain, snow, etc. is no problem...I had my 870 fall off the back of a 4 wheeler into the snow one time...I just picked it up, dusted the snow off of it and went hunting...When I returned home, I cleaned it, oiled it, and put it away...No rust problem there.

IMPORTANT: Check the bore, too. A mud plug can blow up the barrel. A guy in Idaho blew his left hand off around Christmas, with an obstructed barrel.

Go with the Stoeger pump instead; it's the same weapon and it costs considerably less. Otherwise you could just go with the Mossberg; get the parkerized finish. I've got the 835 Ulti-Mag and the 500 and they are both excellent guns....virtually indestructible! Don't get me wrong I own a couple of 870's too and they're good guns as well but the military buys Mossberg's because they're pretty much able to deal with anything you want to throw at them.

That's really important too...I forgot to mention that the bore was free of obstructions before resuming hunting. As it was on the back of a 4 wheeler, it was not loaded yet.

Use the dang thing. wipe it down when you get back fron the hunt. I have an 870 that i have to use as a paddle.....YES A PADDLE.....I just took it apart ,wiped and oiled it and you would never know it was a paddle.:D
