Hey guys, I've never really introduced myself. I'm a 17 year-old North Carolinian with anti parents but who has enough friends with fathers who served/hunt that I know about and enjoy firearms.
Anyway, we've been given a research paper in school. Pretty open as far as the topic goes, as long as it's debatable. We find a quote on a subject and either support it or refute it. Given recent events and my own convictions, I found Obama's policy to address gun violence, and intend to refute it. I posted it below, and would love some help. If anybody has any quotes or statistics that could help me out with this, I would be grateful, as long as they can be cited and are preferably print sources. If anybody is curious, the teacher is married to a former Marine, so she should be at least moderate or pro-gun.
Mods: I know that I'm walking the line here and maybe getting too political. But I figured as long as the conversation stuck to the policy and not the person implementing it, then it's really no different than discussing any other statement or policy out there. If I'm wrong, by all means lock the thread. I simply believed that this would be by far my most effective resource, and certainly had no intention of breaking any rules. Also, if this needs to be moved to another forum, I apologize for posting it in the wrong place.

Address Gun Violence in Cities: As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.
