I understand what your saying completely except that I want to shoot today and I'm forced to pay the current market rate. I just bought 400 rnds of 308 and saved over $800 compared to 6.5cm at today's market rate. And the selection of 308 bullets for long distance shooting was much better than 6.5cm. $800 savings easily covers converting my 6.5cm 700 to a Remage 308 barrel. If/when 6.5cm drops back to pre-panic prices I'll consider getting a 6.5cm Remage barrel. That's just with the ammo crunch craziness..... But using current ridiculous ammo pricing as a guide isnt a realistic comparison.
