I have been trying for years to find an early, short-rail CZ-75 to add to my collection, and I have never seen one for sale. Does anybody have any idea how many were imported to the US, or better still, where anyone has one for sale?

They are very rare, but there are two for sale now on another forum. I sent you the info via PM. I don't know the seller, but they are the two finest examples I have seen in years!

I recently bought one from a member of this forum. I was extremely lucky, as I paid half of what I bought and sold one for about 3-4 years ago. They are extremely rare, made between 1976 and the early 80's. Both of mine were made in 1977, and were like new. The early one that I sold had the box, etc. They were probably brought in from Canada, who was doing business with Czechoslovakia during the cold war years, and US citizens could buy them there, and then pay an very high import tax ($200-$500), and bring them in without import marks. That is why there are so few in this country. They stopped making them WAY before the iron curtain fell, and we didn't start having imports until 1989 or later. Some GI's brought them back from Germany, but most of those were also 1981 or later long rails. I do not have one for sale, and just got lucky, twice. You can expect to pay $1500 to $2000 for a like new in the box short rail, from what I have seen of prices on the few I have seen outside of my own.

I have an early CZ 75 short rail. Baked enamel, excellent condition, no import markings, rounded trigger guard, spur hammer. I may be interested in selling it if you would like to make an offer.

I brought my first CZ in via Canada on a Form 6.

I've seen the occasional one on GB or on the CZ forum. The latter is a good place to ask around.
