Kimber’s first attempt at smaller pistols popular with those looking for a CCW was the Solo. There was a time when these were all the rage and were selling at well over MSRP. These guns fell from favor as they developed a reputation for being ammunition sensitive…I’m not sure this was deserved. On top of that they were difficult to field strip. Today a good, used Solo can be had for between $400 and $500.
Relatively soon after the desire for the Solo dropped off, Kimber came out with the EVO. I saw a couple of articles on the EVO that seemed as if the ammunition sensitivity had been resolved with this model. The gun rags seemed favorably impressed with the EVO. Following the initial release of the EVO, I haven’t seen much written about it. Like the Solo the retail price of the EVO seems to have dropped into the $500 to $600 range for one NIB. Has the EVO been condemned by faint praise? The only negative comment I’ve seen about the EVO is that it is all metal and heavier than comparable sized polymer frame guns. I would appreciate any feedback on the EVO either + or -.
Thank you!
