My brother recently bought a Knight KP1. We took it out to to the range today to get it sighted in and immediately had problems with it mis-firing. We have tried both of the breech plugs that come with the gun and have the same problem with each breech plug. You can see where the firing pin is just barely touching the primer, but is not striking it hard enough to cause it to fire. Due to the holiday weekend we have not had a chance to contact Knight yet. Has anybody else experienced this problem with a KP1? If so, what was the fix?

Thanks,

Ben

I don't have the KP1 rifle, but just general black powder info should work. Try a different brand of primers.... could be as simple as that. I've had revolvers that prefered one cap over another.

Also, maybe you can back out the breechplug just a little tiny bit so to change the "headspacing" between the primer and firing pin just a smidge.
Maybe you have the plug tightened a little too much for those particular primers, if that's a possibility at all.
This isn't mentioned in the instructions?
I've had guns where I've needed to shim the nipple with a washer to make contact or to raise the depth of the bottom of the nipple because it was a little long. Maybe the breechplug is intentionally made a little bit short or the internal breechplug threading is too deep to accomodate primers of different thicknesses.
A fraction of a turn on the breechplug shouldn't matter if it's designed to be that way. After adjusting it, fire off a primer or 2 to check the headspacing gap by function testing it.
