Hey,

My Dad has an old shotgun that was in his house when he bought it back in the mid 80's. Its a single shot break action Remington model 812.

it has on the left side of the barrel "Remington Arms Co. Inc. made in brazil"

underneath the receiver, just ahead of the trigger guard it has " C45404 Remington Model 812

on the right it has "410 guage - 3in - full proof tested."

I did some research on google and found out that Remington had a number of these firearms made by Companhia Brasilerira de Cartuchos SA in brazil and they were imported into Canada by Canadian Importers Limited.

I am trying to find out what the age of this shotgun is, but the serial numbers don't seem to match up with anything that I have seen. They also only go back to the early 1920s. Most things I have read say the serial number is on the left side of the barrel, but this one seems to be on the bottom.

Does anyone have any ideas?

thanks

Old shotgun?????, Your shotgun was made in the 1970's. Made by CBC { Cimpanhia Brasilerira Cartuchos } Brazil, imported and sold under the Remington name. Remington has or had a financial interest in CBC at the time. Value of a CBC shotgun, even with a Remington roll mark, less than a 100 dollars if in good condition. Hope that helps.

thanks!

Yeah, that does help. because the serial numbers didn't seem to be lining up with what everything I had seen seemed to be telling me, I assumed it was older than that.

Why do you think that it was made in the 1970's? Because Remington had shares in that company going way back to the 20's from what I had read.

There is a very good possibility that such a gun did not exist as such before 1970:), Also it is listed as being imported for Remington in the 1970's Plus and this is a very big plus, it wasn't untill the 70's that any American arms company would even dream of puting their name on a Braziian gun.
