I have a Remington 597. I haven't had any problems at all with mine and it's box stock. The only ammo I've found that mine doesn't like is Federal 510 leads... Loves the bulk Rem Goldens as well as the bulk federal coppered HP's. CCI mini's run good in it also... I have some CCI Velocitors to try... I liked it because it feels like a full sixed rifle. The 10/22 feels like a BB gun in size (not weight). I'd easily put it in the same class as a Marlin 60 any day of the week in the accuracy department...

I do own a 10/22, but I don't think you want to hear my story there...

The Marlin Model 60 has sold over 11,000,000...

I went the 10-22 route and won't do that again. Not a bad end product but it was expensive to get there and it is a bit bulky to me. I will forever be a Marlin model 60 man. Shoots great out of the box and handles very well in the field. It is and will be my favorite semi rimfire for a long time. The 597 isn't bad either but something about it screams cheap every time I hold one. I don't know why but that always does. I will say though that if budget isn't the issue the brno 511 is another rifle that is amazing. They seem to shoot as good as the CZ bolt rifles do. Something to be said for that.

i have the first round scored 10-9 in favor of.the rest of the world. but if MR 10-22s corner can keep the en swell on that puffy eye. i think MR 10-22 could make a push in the later rounds. back to you Al Bernstien for round # 2

well Al? it looks like MR-1022 isnt going to answer the bell for round #2. i really thought his training out in the woods and in the fields would pay off in the later rounds. im just shocked AL. where is 10-22s corner men. i dont see his manager any where Al?

let's see where were we at? ... +7 for Marlin 60 for value and accuracy :D
The cheapest and yet most accurate gun I own.

Like you I have found my way back to the .22...use to have a Ruger 10/22...great gun....can't believe they are over $250.00 now...wanted something cool an fun ....500.00 bought a GSG-5, it was worth every penny, never had so much fun with a .22.....I'm back.

I vote for savage.
I just bought a savage mk2 gvxp from dicks this week so it gets my vote.I like bolt action over semi auto tho so I am a little biased

that would be either one of the old 99 series that is mag fed, I think a 99c, or you want a 795, or a 7000.

Of course you could go ultra cool, and get a 70 papoose, in stainless.
