Looking for "long, pointy" profile for .45 acp coated LRN

Hi folks,

I like loading powder coated lead projectiles in my handguns just to keep my costs as low as possible. I'm used to playing games with bullet profiles and COAL in order to keep my CZ (with it's short throat/Freebore) happy, but was looking forward to not having to deal with that when I picked up a 1911 a year ago and started loading for it. Much to my dismay, I found this Kimber has a very short throat as well, so I'm having to deal with it in this caliber as well.

I'm checking to see if anybody has some recommendations on a brand of powder-coated 230 gr. Lead roundnose projectile that tends to have a longer/pointer profile that might work better in this gun? I'm using DG Bullets 230gr at the moment, but they're more of a "short and stubby" profile. I can make them work by seating them deep at 1.200", but I tend to have feeding issues with them as a result. Turns out DG Bullets is going out of business this summer (Dave is retiring) so I need to find a new supplier anyway, and might as well find one with a profile more friendly for this particular gun.

Any suggestions? I've used brassos in the past, but their LRN in 9mm also tends to have a short/stubby profile so I'm not horribly optimistic about their .45's.

I wouldn't mind some suggestions for 230 gr. FMJ projectiles with pointy profiles as well if anybody is aware of any.

Thanks all!

P.s. I'm not opposed to more of a SWC profile either, I just figured I'd like to find a nice LRN profile to settle in on as a baseline.

You might look at https://www.ibejiheads.com/

I like their coated lead round nose bullets for both my 45 ACP and 38 Short Colt revolvers for fast moonclip reloads. They offer both a tradition 230gr LRN with lube groove (no lub) and a version without a lub groove.

Most commercial casters use that same 230 gr mold.
There are 225 gr truncated cones that might suit your chambers better.

If 200 grains were enough, there are a few places making a very pointed bullet with a SWC type shoulder.
This one from Bayou. https://bayoubullets.net/45-acp-200-gr-rn/

Don't buy a lot to start with, they are not 100% in all my guns, more like a SWC.

If you're not stuck on 230gr then there are plenty of options. I have 3 Kimber 1911's and I feed mine mostly 185gr Acme swc (.452 dia). I seat them at 1.245" and they work great. I'm also trying the 200gr swc and so far they seem to work great as well.
