You may want to search your grandfather's papers to see if he has any documentation - capture papers, transfer orders, anything that may provide some providence about the gun.
This isn't needed for owning the gun, but it could provide an interesting story.
Also, try to keep it as you found it - the more original it is the higher the value (although coming from your grandfather, that is its greatest value!).

Not much can be done with out pictures, however the Eagle N is the standard proof mark from 1940 { prior to 1940 the proof mark was Eagle over a Crown. }. The Eagle 135 is the Heerswaffenamt stamp ( military inspectors stamp ) for Mauser { and others }. The gun was well liked and about 252,ooo were made for the German Military in WWII. After the war about 17,000 were made up for the French { 1945 - 1946 }.With out pictures it would be very difficult to asset any value. With that high of a serial number I would think it was a late Army Model. However someone better versed than I would have to confirm that. As some one posted a few times, with out pictures, it didn't happen

Go to Gun Broker or Rock Island auctions and see the price. But, I have never seen any of these mausers bring big bucks. I got a beautiful broomhandle, worth maybe $2,000. If I took it to a dealer, maybe they would give me $750.

Value depends upon condition and pictures are required for anything reliable in that sense.
