I've never given much thought to my EDC knife before, but that was mostly because I've been carrying a Kershaw Leek for a number of years now and it was nearly perfect for me. I love the super slim profile, how easy it goes into and out of my pocket, and how quick it is with the assisted opening. Right now my Leek is in need of a disassembly and thorough cleaning, and that got me thinking about picking up another EDC knife and maybe relegating my current Leek to back-up status.
I was looking at Kershaw's website and saw that I could buy a new identical Leek, but I also noticed their Random Leek model which seemed much more appealing. I like the reverse tanto styled blade, since the fine point on my current Leek always seemed like it might be a little delicate and I've always tried to baby it somewhat. I just don't care for the partial serrations it has, and was upset to discover that there were versions made without serrations but they are no longer in production. The Blur models also looking interesting, just not sure about the liner lock and having to get used to opening it with the thumb stud since it doesn't have the little flipper bump that the Leek does.
Truthfully I'm a total newb when it comes to knives that aren't dime store specials, so I'm looking for some suggestions for other knife makers with similar designs and levels of quality. I'm not looking to spend a lot on a new knife, but I'm okay spending a little for something that will hold and edge and last. The Kershaw's with the S30V blades are about as expensive as I'm wiling to go.
