I am looking at trading a gun for some reloading equipment. As I am brand new to reloading, would this be a good setup/what would the value of all this be?

RCBS ROckchucker Press

powder measure is a bonanza(with paperwork, as is the scale) I can include the other funnel(a RCBS uniflow, as well). Forster case trimmer(with 2 fittings). It looks like there is a ram prime., 357 mag sizer. 30-38-408 exp, .44mag die and de-primer,357 mag seater and crimper. The books are sierra handloaders guide v2, rockchucker instructions, IMR reloaders guide, winchester reloaders manual, hogdens reloaders manual, rcbs handloaders guide,.

Thanks for the help guys

I have fixed the terminology (sorry, it was a copy paste job I was looking at pictures so I knew it was a measure). AND I forgot it comes with a Rockchucker press that looks like it has hardly been used.

I have read the sticky. What I wanted to know was if this equipment was decent equipment or not (I know the RCBS Rcokchucker is a good press, but I have never heard of Bonanza or Forster).

I am not going to trade even up, but I am trying to determine a value for any of this stuff to take as partial trade on a gun. I know the Rockchucker would be a good press, but other than that I am lost.

The USED reloading items are worth in the $150 range - max.

The reloading manuals - worth nothing. All of the info can be downloaded off of the web for free.

I DO recommend purchasing a NEW reloading manual...or three!

Bonanza and Forster is good stuff. If you can get it for .40 to .50 cents on the dollar you will be fine. I rate the Forster trimmer as second only to the Wilson. I have both as well as an RCBS.

You would be getting a very good single stage press, two good measures (you just need one), and a good scale (if it has not been damaged) as well as .357 mag dies, some .44 die pieces (not a set it sounds like), a reloading manual and and some reloading data. Say $75 to $100 dollars worth of trade?

I don't have any gun I would trade for that stuff alone. Look into buying some Lee reloading stuff if you want to get into reloading on a budget and don't get this stuff. It works fine.

A start, but not enough to get you going.

The Rockchucker is a good press. Anything from RCBS is good. Ditto Forster.

A ram prime is a somewhat slow but very exact way to prime. From any maker but Lee, it's fine. (I don't think much of Lee's priming die. For a couple bucks more, Lyman's is much better.) You can also get a priming arm for the Rockchucker press.

How much is it all worth? Can't tell from here, but the die sets don't sound complete from your description.

The Rockchucker (although I don't have one) is pretty much a standard single stage nowadays. Very well made, and popular.
Powder measures are a pretty critical item, and I like the Redding BR3, RCBS and the old Lyman slide type.

Forster and Bonanza made, and still make, some pretty good stuff, quality wise. I still have a couple of old dies sets from Bonanza, and they've held up well.

Anything really from Lyman, RCBS or Redding, Bonanza, or Forester, are very well made, and to be honest, will last a long, long time.
I have my preferences, as do many, but most equipment is pretty good nowadays, and if they aren't, obviously, they don't last long in the reloading fraternity.

Take care,
Bob
