Hi guys, im looking to relocate from Nevada to oregon, was wondering how the gun laws and ccw is in oregon? Oppinions?. Looking to find a rural area about an hour or less outside portland. I recently just got laid off and ive always wanted to go to the nw so i put the house up for sale! Also I am in the property management/maintenance management field, but am open to all professions if anyone has any leads on jobs up there. Also looking for a place out in the country to rent that will be ok with me and my dogs. If anyone has any suggestions or can help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Wes

up sides: shall issue ccw. no ban on mags, silencers, or other nfa. no waiting period. no buy or posses permit. your choice of firearm is not tied into ccw, so you can carry whatever you want. open carry state, state preemption clause. no shoot ccw class. a ccw bypasses the "no guns in school" rule.

downsides: a few municipalities ban open carry despite state preemption laws. state police handles bgc and charges $10 per phone call, $5 more per phone call per day after the first one. also the serial number of the gun is relayed to the sp during the bgc. no ccw recipricosity with other states. possesion of a gun that is concealed inside your car (glove box, center console) within the drivers reach, without a ccw is illegal.

there are others but thats all i can come up with on short notice. others will be along shortly to expound on the rules. oregon has a pretty active gun comunity. to get a feel of oregon shooters, come visit us here: http://www.northwestfirearms.com/forum.php , and here: http://oregonfirearms.org/

1904- Just a couple property issues. Stay outta the Columbia River Gorge. Winter winds howl through it, not uncommon for freezing rain/fog which makes travel a pain. Try to find something without a creek or river running beside/through it. Lots of fights with the state & counties over riparian buffer zones and other Green inspired bits of lunacy.

Please stick to comments about gun laws. If you have thoughts to share about climate, jobs, social issues, etc. -- please feel free to share them via Private Message. Thanks.
