I haven't had snow in deer season since I hunted in the Upper peninsula of Michigan.
We have snow in South East Missouri.
I'm taking my 3 and 4 year old together since my wife only gets to hunt a couple days this year.
I have extra snacks, hot chocolate, and blankets for them. It's going to be more fun than just hunting.

It was. I didn't see anything. But I wasn't expecting too. Considering I had a 3 and 4 year old along.
They had fun roasting leaves on the Mr heater.

Every day I spend with them is good. The one in the yellow cost started crying when I told him it was time to pack up.
I learned a few things about deer hunting. First is deer live in caves. Second is hollow trees are deer caves. So you just look for deer caves and wait to shoot the deer when it comes home. I about died laughing.

I'll have to remember that and watch the tree caves. Might get me a buck sooner.

When I take young children out I let them make a small fire, and roast some hot-dogs, and I cook up some hot chocolate especially if it's going to be cold. Not the best way to locate deer...but that's not priority one. I'll be doing that soon, nine year old boy and seven year old girl, but I take them out one at a time. The boy is really good and quiet in the woods. The girl...well...you know how chatty little girls are. !!!

Here's one from this morning.
After it got warm. They went under the cedar tree and played house. I laid on my ground roll and soaked up the sun for a while.
The one in the blue coat can actually be quiet enough to hunt with. His younger brother is like that neighbor kid with a really loud stereo. Every word is at max volume.
