The lost knife was a well used Benchmade Osborne 923SBK.

I can either get another 923 or try something new. I may even consider a fixed blade.

Blade must be less than 5.5" and be at least partially serrated. This will be a daily carry knife so a fixed blade would require a slim sheath.

Any suggestions?

Sorry about your knife. :(

What will be the primary use of the new knife? I'm a big fan of Spydercos, but it would help to know what you use your EDCs for.

Generally I just use it for general household duties (Opening mail :D). It will also serve as a last resort for SD.

I have been a big fan of Benchmades for a long time. I've carried several of their higher end models, but on a whim I bought a $50 Kershaw Leek a while back. It has become my daily carry. It's great. Razor sharp and opens fast.

I'm also a big fan of the Spyderco knives. I've carried an old Standard Model, with SpyderEdge, since they came out. I lost the first one in '93 operating at a building collapse in a blizzard, and replaced it then. That knife sits on my belt as I type this. It's been well used, and sometimes abused in Fire/EMS scenes, and always did the job.

What's your price limit?

I would like to stay under $200.

Yeah -- find your knife.

I tried that. Drove the hour and half (round trip) back to the place where I think I lost it. No luck.

I had used it to eat lunch, I remember clipping it back in my pocket (because I had to wipe the pizza grease off first), loaded some furniture into the back of my truck, and when I got home I realized I didn't have it. I think it was pushed/pulled out of my pocket while loading.

The spydercos look nice but I prefer a thumb stud. I am also a really big fan of Benchmade's AXIS locking system.

Today I am carrying a Benchmade 941.(BC1)

Is the handle plastic or metal?

Lately, my daily carry has been a # 10 Opinel in a belt sheath flashlight holder.
The knife is easy to maintain and VERY inexpensive at around 10 bucks from SMKW.
I have a myraid of knives at my disposal buy at that price, alost knife is no big deal.

knives fall under the heading...personal taste. If your open to another type then maybe a Buck 110 might interest you.

A folding/locking knife that comes with a sheath. Life time warranty.
That puppy is built to last. Just my $.02.
