I started tracking lot numbers on both primers and powder about a year ago by adding columns into my load data spreadsheet. I figure if there is ever a problem, it is a good way to track issues and provide feedback to manufacturers.

My main question however is about working up a new load every time you change powder lot numbers. I know it is "recommended", and every reloading manual I have ever read says to do this, but to be honest, I have never worried about it.

So who on THR works up a new load (or at least confirms the load) whenever they switch powder lot numbers?

Powder- If loading at maximum, work up. I don't , but for 1 loading thats listed as maximum.

Dropping old and new lots , using the same volume, can give very different weights of powder.

Apply lot numbers to everything, brass and bullets, if not already marked.

Do confirm the load for accuracy. A 1/2 gr change , when using IMR 4831 @ 45 grs makes a difference for me.

I do check powder charges if I'm at max loads I back the load down ,then work back up. I run all the loads through the crony to check to see if there is a difference..

I don't do a full load workup but I do run them through the chronograph and check zero to make sure everything is still working as expected.
