Lots of flash.

We are planning a night shoot with illuminated targets. I would like to load some 45ACP with a lot of muzzle flash for some special effects. A 3' flame would be cool. What do I load with and how much to keep the flash at max and the pressure within limits? I load 230gr LRN that I cast myself, usually use Titegroup or HP38 but will go get a different powder to get some dramatic effects. My comp gun is a Colt Government series 80 stainless.

Powerpistol is the flashiest I have used so for. Good powder though.

Power Pistol will light up the 1st 10 yds of your range at night. It is as already said a good power though too.

Try 10.5 grains of Blue Dot under a 200 grain jhp for some real flash. That's a max load per Speer #14. That sucker flashes pretty good in full sunlight, especially from my G30. Use standard primers or you'll get high pressure signs.

While I agree Power Pistol will give you a big flash I have to agree with "dougader", Blue Dot is probably the powder that will give you the biggest flash and do so in any caliber you load with it.

Thanks! Seems to be a lot of good suggestions here. I will be off to the store after work today to see what they have in stock. The shoot is this weekend. Time to fire up the press.
