I’ve got a question for Preacherman or any of our other THR members from Louisiana:

I’m going to Lafayette for a couple of days and plan on taking advantage of the LA/TX reciprocity agreement. I’m brushing up on LA concealed carry law at packing.org but I’m a little unclear as to prohibited areas and alcohol licensing. In Texas concealed carry is prohibited in bars (actually any business with 51% or more of its sales in alcohol) but is perfectly OK in restaurants that serve alcohol. What is the law in LA? I’ve got no interest in bars but mainly need to know if restaurant carry is OK and what (if any) type of signs are required. Any other tips or gotchas regarding CCW in LA would be appreciated.

As far as I understand, in a typical restaurant there are 2 liquor licenses. One for the main seating area, and one for the bar area.

You can carry in the restaurant, but you can't carry in the bar area of the restaurant.

It's kinda of a dumb law, as in either place you could order the exact same drinks, but you should be ok to CC in a restaurant.

take a look at packing.org. they have links to the LA statutes.

We don't have the 30.06 signs that you have. Any "no guns" signs apply to you .
Although in Lafayette, I have yet to see any except for at the mall.

Pm me if you have any other questions, I'll try to help you out if I can.

Also, if you are coming on a weekend and have time for a match, let me know. We have pistol matches on the 1st and 3rd weekeneds. (IPSC and a low key .22 match)
