I'm a big fan of Mojos and use them on the SMLE and the M39. They aren't as precise as peep or receiver aperture sights but they aren't intended to be. For 50-150 yard range work and medium to close range hunting they're great.
I must admit I was a bit disappointed in my mojo's. I put the G98MCSS sights on my K98. I do agree the rear aperture is better than the factory V-notch. But using the aperture for the front caused the sight picture to be in my personal opinion way too big, thus causing too much room for elevation and windage error. In other words I had nothing to reference my target to, I could only hope I was centered in the aperture . I went back and installed my factory front blade and my accuracy greatly improved. Like I said this is just my own personal preference, I'm old fashioned and prefer having a blade to go by. I must say though it's a good quality piece and it keeps the factory look intact for the most part
I agree, I didn't even attempt the front Mojo, left the original 98 inverted "V" up front, it's a great sight picture for me, as the target will attest.
That M98 is so much fun to shoot, I need to get one for my M48A.
Muddcat - I also am not a really big fan of the front replacement, but the windage and elevation adjustment rear sight appatures are where it is at! If you want to hone the groups you are getting down, without altering the original configure of the rifle in an irreversible way or going scout scope setup.
