My Sister is very recoil sensitive and I'm looking for a way to make clay shooting more enjoyable for her.

We are casual shooters and I own a 20ga Side by Side. At most I go out to the trap club 4-5 times a year, and my sister shoots maybe 1-2 time a year. Between us we only go through about 200 rounds last year.

Did a little research and these seems to be the options:

1, Buy low-recoil 20ga ammo, I saw Fiocchi makes one. Not sure which loads are recommended, or if the low recoil rounds really makes a difference for the recoil sensitive. I have a lot of Walmart 20ga ammo on hand already so buying the low recoil rounds plus shipping would have to be an extra expense.

2, Buy something in .410, no idea which I should look for but I have been interested in some kind of .410/22 Hornet combination gun for a while. I have ammo on hand but no gun for both.

3, Buy a .410/45LC adaptor. Not sure if they work as advertised, also my SxS had ejectors so it might be a pain to use. Again I have ammo on hand for 410 and 45LC.

4, Buy a used 20ga reloading press, a mech 650 or similar, and roll my own low recoil rounds. Never reloaded shotgun before but I have Powder and 7-1/2 shot on hand.

Apart from option 2 in buying a new gun, the cost for the others seems very similar, so was wondering what you guys think would be the best option.

Reload a 3/4oz load going about 1200 or less. One thing about SxS that is paramount is FIT; if it doesn't fit her properly, no load will feel comfortable. SxS guns have a different recoil situation than O/U or pumps or semis in that there is a lateral force besides a rearward one.

Low recoil rounds do work. Also, if it doesn't have a good recoil pad, get one. If she likes it then I would think about reloading. No sense getting all set up and then finding it's a no go.
