Lubing after using Flitz?

Surprisingly, I can't find the answer to this question anywhere, so I wanted to see what everyone else does. After polishing a part(s) with the Flitz paste, does the part need to be cleaned with some kind of solvent/CLP to remove the residue, or should it be left as-is and have the lube applied on top of it? I've always cleaned the parts after polishing and before applying the lube, but I'm not sure if it's needed.

Unless you want to continue wearing things, you ALWAYS clean after using ANY abrasive (and Flitz is a mild abrasive, that is how and why it polishes).

The Flitz I have says it leaves behind a protective film so I've always just wiped/polished it with a microfiber cloth and left it at that. The way your doing it surely won't cause any harm that I can see, so I'm guessing six of one half dozen of the other.

I wouldn't use Flitz every time I clean a gun however as there is a tiny little bit of abrasive in it or so I've heard.

Thanks for confirming it, guys. I always use the Slip 2000 cleaner/degreaser on the parts after polishing them (for the reason brickeyee mentioned). I was just reading the instructions on my new tube of Flitz paste and realized I've never read anything about proper clean-up in their instructions, so I started thinking that maybe polishing/wiping with a cotton patch/cloth is enough to get it all off.

Flitz is a polishing compound. Not a gun lube or cleaner. It is very good at what it is intended for. Always remove it from what you are polishing when done....chris3

I used Flitz to polish up some key areas inside a brand new Walther PK380. After I was finished polishing, I used a parts cleaner brush (or toothbrush) with some mild solvent to clean all the flitz out of the polished areas. Then I applied a lubricant.

Wipe it off, use what you use to clean your gun to clean off the rest

I agree with the previous posters who say one must clean the Flitz completely off the gun and its parts, then lubricate the gun and its parts properly.
