Is there currently a new "faithful" reproduction of the M-14 made? Sights, caliber, size, weight, etc?

I shot the M-14 quite a bit when I was in the Navy, and I really fell in love with them. Most of the ones we had, had the selector switches removed, but a few of them had them intact :D

I know garands are available, and they're almost identical, but I like the idea of the Detachable mag, instead of the Enbloc's.

I've seen the Ruger Mini-14, but it's just not "quite" what I'm looking for, It just doesn't look "right" to me, a few subtle differences.

I found a few "arsenal reconditioned" semiauto M-14's listed on Gunbroker, but I don't see how they're not Class III, I thought all M-14's were selectfire, and therefore would be always considered a machinegun. See Here

Still new to the civilian side of military rifles, so forgive me if I showed any ignorance in my post, and correct me as necessary :D

Maybe the spingfield M1A? Same basic package. I don't know if there are any differences though.

Oooh.. That one looks pretty darn close :) Hefty price tag too :D Guess I gotta start saving up, I think I'm adding that one to my wish list. The "Standard" M1a in Walnut is perfect.

Well I guess you did caveat that you are a newbie, but I thought everyone had heard of an M1A. Pretty much a civilian M14.

Check out the LRB "Government Issue" M14.

The M-14s on all the ships I have been to, including the one I'm now on, are semi-auto only. There are a few select-fire ones around, but fewer all the time. The new ones we get in are in all ways identical to the SA M-1A, with the exception of the marking that says, "US Rifle, M-14" on the receiver.
Yes, they are costly, but they are worth the dough.

correct me if im wrong but when did they STOP making M14s? I thought they were still in production

edit: sorry didnt read it all and didnt know you were referring to select fire. but its like the FAL, on full auto it might as well be an anti-air gun because most people cant handle the recoil because the cyclic is too high, hell even g3s at 500 rpm most people cant handle on full auto

My green-ness shows :D

I know "my" guns, inside and out, but when it comes to the wide wide world of things I haven't looked into yet, I am quite unknowledgeable :)

My MK14 SEI Mod 0 project began late in 2004 and even though I have a good
bit invested in it, it's worth more than I have in it and the value grows daily :)

gvnwst Dang, i never guess it would have all that in it. I have a new respect for your M14 H2O man:D:D:D

Back in March of 2007 I returned the Mod 0 to SEI for factory upgrades that were not available when it was first built.
Among other things, Ron Smith installed a new barrel and Cryogenically Treated just about everything including the stock.
The rifle is currently new and unfired, that status will change after I scope it :)
