Hey folks, my local shop got a batch of police/L.E. trade in M&P 45s in this week. I looked them over and like them a lot. They all have the manual safety levers, some have night sights which are still bright.

Any issues with these guns? Am thinking of one for a home defense/night stand gun so I probably wouldn't shoot it all that much.

They're $300 for the gun and one mag (have trijicon night sights).

I don't feel I'd need a different backstrip on it, felt pretty good in the hand.

From reading other forums, the mag springs in the .45 models have been a problem, though I believe the current springs are just fine. Otherwise, the .45 model has a very good reputation.

I threw one on hold. The sights are still fairly bright and seemed to have a nice trigger.

The safety lefer can be removed, if that's your taste. S&W makes little plastic plugs to fill the slot on the frame, that's how the non-safety models come from the factory actually.

For $300, it would be mine instantly.

I have one that came with the safety, which i thought would be a good idea at the time. The size, location and mushy action of the safety just didnt' work for me. But, as mentioned above, it is easily removed and the little plugs are avail and easy enough to install if desired.

Also, plenty of aftermarket accessories avail.

My M&P .45 is very accurate -- here's a picture -- hand load that I worked up.

YOU WON'T FIND THE LOAD IN ANY MANUAL -- DO YOUR OWN DUE DILIGENCE -- USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

With that caveat, it has worked in A full size Dan Wesson, 2 Kimber Pro Carry IIs, Ruger 1911 LW CMD, and a Kahr CW45 in addition to the M&P 45. Probably shouldn't be used extensively without mods to your gun.

Only 4 shots as that was all I had left after chrono work.
