I recently purchased a lightly used full size M&P 45 that has the thumb safety feature. I was wondering has anyone who carried this had any trouble with the safety engaging while on the draw? Can you remove the safety without any problems?

Does anybody know of a better IWB holster than Crossbreeds Supertuck?

Are there any good performance upgrades worthy of looking at for my M&P 45?

Its FDE but I changed the backstrap, pin tool, mag release, and mag base covers to a2's black stippled options.

Lastly, sights- I was looking at Trijicons new HD sight system for the M&P but they seem to sit pretty high up off the slide. I also would like a straight 8 configuration but an orange dot up front with a Trijicon tube in it like Trijicon HDs. This is what I really want for features but as of now im looking at the Warren Tactical sight system which has the straight 8 night sight configuration and sits low but no orange dot around the front of the Trijicon tube. If I have to do without the orange dot that's fine but given what I have said can anyone recommend good sights with my desired features?

This was a model that was bought in 2010 if that makes any difference. Thanks

I have the M&P 9 Compact with the thumb safety.

I have never had the safety get flip on while drawing. Having said that, you should be thumbing down the safety at some point during aquiring the gun in the target.

In regards to the safety, it can easily be removed and left out (which is what Id probably do and is very easy) or you can buy a new sear control block for as little as $25 and transfer what ever parts you need from yours to the new one that was made to not accept to thumb saftey.

Either way you go, you may want to fill the holes in the frame where the thumb safety comes out. Here's the links for the right and left sides

All of these are factory parts.

Edit to add: I just noticed you're new...... welcome aboard.

I personally do not like an external safety on my carry guns, so I always opt for the "Pro" models or non external safety models. Sometimes the trade off to this is a heavier trigger in no safety models, but that can easily be remedied. The safety can easily (and safely) be removed, but if you plan to carry it I would not reccomend that. Aftermarket parts and hand loaded carry Ammo are things that on a rare occasion COULD be brought up in a court case should you have to use your defensive pistol. However I can pretty much assure you that if you remove the safety mechanism on your carry pistol that likely WOULD be brought up against you in a trial. That being said, everyone is free to do their own bidding. I have people tell me that since I have an aftermarket trigger in my M&P I should never carry the gun, but I still do at times. On the topic of trigger, I love the Apex duty trigger enhancement kit. I also run the Apex flat replacement trigger along with it and I shoot the gun way better than stock. I'm used to Glocks afterall and the Apex trigger is essentially an awesome Glock trigger for the M&P. For holsters, when I do carry my M&P it rides in a CloakTuck or LightTuck. Depending on purpose, I also sometimes have used a 5.11 ThumbDriver OWB as well and loved it. I don't use the M&P as a carry gun much anymore, but I did for a while when I first bought it and loved both of the Alienware Kydex rigs. I actually damaged one while laying on concrete working on my car & they shipped me a replacement within 2 days. Great customer service and products with Alienware. One of my regular shooting buddies carries an M&P everyday and he uses a Blackhawk carbon fiber Serpa and loves that rig. For sights I also have Trijicon; mine are the orange HD .252 height model. I actually considered TruGlo fiber optic sights when I first bought the pistol, but Instead I initially chose a ridiculously large setup called "Dead Ringers" for the pistol. When the novelty of those died off I purchased the Trijicons and have been happy with them since. In all honesty the Dead Ringers from Cabellas weren't horrible sights; they actually did great for me at the range but they aren't practical for carry.
Another thing about the M&P45 in particular, it seems to be most accurate in my experience with the lighter bullet weights. Faster 185/200gr loads actually group better than 230gr Match loads for both myself & one of my shooting buddies through the M&P. This is an anomaly for me because my other .45 ACPs tend to group better with 230gr Match ball than any of the faster 185/200gr stuff.
Good luck with the new pistol and have fun with it!

Yeah, I think i'm going to keep the thumb safety intact, I wish it had a grip safety instead like my XDM had but that's fine. Out of the box, box for box, the M&P seems to shoot straighter then the XD/M. Thanks for all the input.

I don't but I use stacked thumbs low hold, people that use high thumbs would probably run into that issue because the safety is really easy to engage.

all of the above.... I experiment a lot with holsters, I almost exclusively carry cross side appendix(10-11 O clock), anymore because the larger 2 clip holsters print so badly with my posture and wardrobe. the supertuck I own is about to be permanently retired. two companies I highly recommend over the supertuck are the AIWB holsters by Tulster and Stealthgear. the mtac minataur is not as good, but is a better all around holster.

night sights and apex triggers are the most common, the trigger is a must.
