My first time out at the range with my NIB M&P and the white dot on the front sight flew off.. Not that big of a deal but still kinda annoying to have it happen to a new gun . Should i take advantage of S&W's warranty and let them care of it? Should i fix it myself with some paint? Or take it back to shop I bought it from? Im leaning towards sending it back to smith but after shipping costs and insurance would it even be worth all the trouble for a 10cent (or less)white dot??:banghead:

If you send it back to Smith, just send the slide. You can legally mail it cheaply that way. Me, I would just fix it myself. This situtation with the front sight is relatively common with the M and Ps.

Personally I prefer all black sights, so I fill in the white dots with black sharpie untill I can replace the sights with some that I prefer. So I would leave it, but if you prefer the white dots then yes, I would send it back to smith and have them fix it for you. They offer a warranty for a reason, so you might as well take advantage of it. But call first, they should send you a shipping label for the gun, especially if its new, that way you don't have to pay shipping.

just use some white hobby enamel and wipe excess.. its way quicker.. but you'd be surprised how many of these do that- i have had to paint two front M&P sights in the last few months for customers. the white enamel will likely be far stronger than whatever smith is doing
