M1 Garand Forend Hand Stop??

During prone and sitting, the sling is detached from the rear keeper and attached to your arm and the front keeper.

Really? I've never done it that way. I have both keepers on the upper part of my sling, and I jam both down against my arm. Lower part of the sling I just pass through the rear swivel and hook the dogs in the first set of holes. Am I breaking a rule? No one has ever called me on it.

He’s saying you can undo the bottom of the sling for sitting/prone. I think he meant to say “hooks” instead of “keeper”

Sorry, I might have used the wrong term! The sling is detached from the rear of the stock, as was mentioned by a previous poster.

Here is a good video of a guy setting up his web sling on a Garand. Note how the hand wraps around the sling to get into position. A lot of people do this wrong when they are just starting out. You can see how the sling is pressing his hand to the stock. He is showing sitting but the sling set up is the same for prone. The sling length probably will be different for each position and as he mentions, you want to have it tight enough that your other hand needs to help get the stock to your shoulder;.
