M1/Quiz/What in the World....

Hi all,
....Was going on in 1936 with the Philippine Government and the Model U. S. M1917 having to do with the Project 5 (M1 Garand Rifle) at Springfield Armory??

Hi all,
The answer to this quiz is as follows:
We were selling Model 1917 to the Philippine Gov. for the some of 9.33 cents each.
Remember this is 1936 and there was a Great Depression.
Now Ordnance was looking at that money to be used for the M1 Garand Rifle. With other sales of Ordnance rifles the Philippine Gov would have to pay about 452,000 dollars. One thing you must understand Ordnance only had a small amount of funds to work with, they had to go around selling the M1 Garand Rifle to all the services. No money No M1 Garand. Any way the funds were sent to was "Replacing Ordnance and Ordnance Stores." Just as SA was ready to get this money they were told NO FUNDS FOR THE M1 GARAND RIFLE from these funds.
There is a ton of files on this but that's about it for the answer.
