I am trying to buy a new barrel for my Rock Island Armory 9mm M1911. The Stormlake website asks me what kind of Ramp I want on the barrel (No Ramp, Wilson/Nowlin, Para/Clark) which should I choose?

By "Ramped" barrel, they mean integral ramp. An integral ramp means that the frame requires machining to accommodate it. If yours hasn't been machined to accept one of the types mentioned, then you want an un-ramped barrel.

What issue is the new 9mm barrel supposed to address?

Surely your barrel has not gone south already.

Extended and threaded for a suppressor?

If so, another option, not available for .40S&W or .45ACP (because the walls are too thin) is to have the barrel turned down and treaded and a threaded adapter screwed on to mount the suppressor, kind of like the Walter P22 etc.

Here is a pic of the different cuts in the frame for ramped barrels. I stole it from somewhere and labeled it.
