Okay, I love my 5" S&W 625, but the sights have got to go. As it came from the factory, it has black adjustable target sights. The front sight is angled rearward and is asking to snag on draw (though I've got it halfway broken in with my Kramer holster). Plus, the notch is small and the sights, being black only, are hard to pick up in low light.

I'd like a set of new sights. Something high-visibility, and very rugged. I wouldn't mind something like fixed sights; my "working" automatics have fixed sights, so why not my working sixgun? Something that's tough and can take a pounding.

I'd like night sights, if possible. Meprolight makes adjustable night sights. If I recall correctly, Cylinder & Slide sells a set of fixed "combat" sights for S&W revolvers. Anybody try these out? Do they come with tritium lamps?

Thanks!

I just recently got a set of those C&S fixed sights for my "fishing gun". I love the sight picture, but I haven't had a chance to try them out yet. C&S doesn't offer tritium inserts, but I know that Trijicon will install in just about anything. I have no idea what that costs.

The front sight blade angles about 5-10 degrees back from vertical, so it is highly snag resistant.

I've handled guns that had the meprolights mounted. The rear two dots are mounted on what is effectively a replacement blade for the stock rear S&W sight. The front is a little tritium vial that is shaped to slip into the notch in a ramp sight that's usually occupied by a piece of red plastic. I would not call them sturdier than stock, by any stretch; but neither would I worry about them not being sturdy enough for the real world.

Does anybody have any experience with the Meprolite adjustable revolver night sights?
Gee, this is my thread for helpful answers. I have them on my model 29 nightstand gun:

Like ChristopherG notes, the rear just replaces the blade. The front replaces the "red ramp" insert and is locktited/epoxied in place. They withstand the recoil of the .44 magnum just fine.

Okay, I ordered the Three-dot fixed sights from Cylinder & Slide. How difficult will these be to install on a stock 5" M625? Can I do it myself (with a screwdriver and a punch set?) or will this require gunsmithin'?

Next question. I plan on buying an M325PD in the near future. Problem is, it's almost an ideal carry-N-Frame, but S&W decided to put big, guaranteed-to-snag sights on it. Can I replace the 325PD sights with those from C&S? I ask because the 325 has that fiber-optic front sight and looks like it mounts on a different kind of base.

rbmcmjr, Hi, I have a 325pd w/ sdm gold bead sight it is wide, tall and the gold bead so fat that the factory rear sight cannot adjust to get a good sight picture, do you think your C&S fixed rear can be shimmed for height? Thanks for any info, I really don't want to change that front sight now that I finally got it on. Oh Nightcrawler, my Hi-Viz broke off b/c it was not well made and I have a kydex holster it was probably hitting, I installed the SDM front sight myself. I bet you can but the rear on w/ no problem, if your front sight is the kind that you have to drift the pin out you will have to drill a hole and put the pin back in, I thought the C&S fronts were dovetailed, is your front sight dovetailed? Luckily my 625JM has the kind you can EASILY push and lift out and replace w/ a variety of others it has some kind of spring inside the ramp. Let me suggest highly JackWeigand sight products, those guys are very helpful.
