Does anyone know where I could find blueprints for an M79 barrel? I need the basic dimensions and specification of materials.

Thanks.

The M-79 grenade launcher was not a smooth-bore.

It was very much rifled.
6 groove, 1/48 right hand twist to be exact.

It had to be both for accuracy, and to arm the spin arming HE shell it fired.

Rotation of the round in the bore caused a flywheel in the shell to unwind and release and arm it down range out of it's blast radius.

Hi and thanks.

My company makes an m203 clone and we have some interest from LE in a 40mm top break. I was just doing a little research.

I carried a M79 for a bit. It did have a rifled barrel and was accurate out to about 300 yds if I remember correctly. Of course accuracy depended on the shooter.
