I just made these two stands from black steel pipes, elbow joints and scrap treated wood. They disassemble easy and stake down with landscape spikes. My gun club has stands for metal plates and paper targets on the main range but not on the new dedicated pistol range. I plan to try them out this weekend. I like being able to move these around with ease. IMG_2437.JPG

Those turned out nice.

There are many different ways to make portable target stands. I used PVC pipe and 1x2 wood for mine. I did have to fill the PVC pipe base with concrete to keep strong winds from blowing the stand over. The local range is graveled so drive stakes in can be a chore.

Those are nice. Driving stakes where I live is an iffy thing so I make mine from poly pipe. I make the bases from 2" and load them with cut to length 3/4" oilfield sucker rod. I haven't had one blow over yet. I do have one made from black pipe like yours for steel swingers.

1/2" or 3/4" black pipe?

Like 12B, I made mine out of 1.5" PVC, since I have a bunch laying around. Base is a squared 'A' shape with 2 T's on the center outside, and take 2x2's and place them in the T's ports... and just staple targets to the 2x's...

I don't really have a photo of them, but this one shows part of the base... you get the idea.

I like the OP's iron pipe better, if space wasn't a consideration. They do make great wind sails, however... I always bring a cinder block or something to anchor it.

I also made mine out of pvc . I have to replace a piece every now and then .

1/2" or 3/4" black pipe?
The tall stand is made from 5/8" structural steel and fittings that lock with Allen Set Screws. The short stand is 3/4" Black pipe that just fits into the wood stand at the bottom for easy take down. Both deflect lead bullet target loads with little damage and are easy to disassemble for transport. A 12" landscape spike through each hole in the stand anchors them pretty well.
