Hello again. Per my other thread, I have a new to me Marlin Camp 45. I've replaced the crumbling original buffer, the recoil spring (Wollf 21 lb) and have the trigger assembly boxed to ship to Bill Springfield for a trigger job and removal of the magazine disconnect (going out tomorrow).

As for magazines, I have two original 7-round Marlin (stamped as such) stainless steel rounders. These appear to be excellent quality but 7-rds for a carbine is low. I also picked up a Wilson Combat 10-rd and a POS 15-rd. I've read in many places that the Camp 45 1911 magazines need to have the square cut-out vs. the round cut out on the back top of the magazine to seat and function properly. I've also read this is pure bunk. I've also read that removing the magazine disconnect also removes this from being a problem. So, can anyone chime in with the "skinny" on this issue? My issue is that the Wilson Combat 10-rd has a round cut-out. Will this be an issue? How about after the magazine disconnect is removed?

I'm looking for 10- or 11-rd quality 1911 magazines, stainless steel construction. I'd like to get 2-3 and be done with it. Please provide informed suggestions. Thanks!

One last thing: I dislike the small, semi-sharp magazine release button. Has anyone replaced it with something larger or at least with improved ergonomics?

Do you know if the Choate AR style stock for the Marlin Camp is a side-foler as well?

Thanks for the recommendations. And the nifty picture. Any thoughts on MecGar? An 11-round blued magazine sounds nice, IF it is good or better quality. I might pick-up 2-3 of the CMs.

I ordered two 10-round CMs from Midway yesterday. Not sure I will like the black composite thick bases, but I might love the aesthetics. But performance is what matters of course. In the end, I read too many posts that the round cut-outs (like the Wilson Combat I picked up) did not perform as well a mags with square cut-outs (like the CMs and the two SS Marlin mags that came with the carbine) so I went with the CMs. That brings me up to 6 magazines so I should be set. Thanks gain for the input.

My Marlin magazine refused to work in the marlin it came in.Wouldn't feed hardball. So I used Chip Mccormick Shooting star mags. They worked perfectly.Oddly the Marlin mag worked in my Norinco Model of the 1911.Go figure.I think the Marlin mag is stainless and not nickle plated.Anyone know who made mags for Marlin?
