My "Friend" Ratted ME Out

Listen to this one:

I have been buying, selling and trading firearms since I was in highschool. My wife was really never aware of what I had until we moved about three years ago. Gun cabinets were moved, safes cleaned out, and all the guns that were in closets or under beds were moved. She wasn't happy, but didn't really challange it.

At any rate, I still add three or four to the "herd" each year. Recently, I found two firearms I online that I could not pass up. A Ruger .44 mag. Super Blackhawk with custom wood grips for $110 shipped and a minty M1903A3 for $313 shipped. The rifle was mine, the handgun was for a friend who collects Rugers. Both guns were paid for with money orders and were shipped to my local FFL who is a friend and a client, so the transfers are free.

So, I get a call one morning from my lovely wife who wants to know what the money orders are for. I tell her that one gun was for me, the other for a friend. She replies "Well I wonder if his wife knows he bought ANOTHER gun? Maybe I should call her."

After I calm her down and explain that it's really not her business what my friend does with his money, I call my friend and explain this amusing little encounter. No sooner than I hang up with him, he calls my wife and leaves her voicemail that he "Doesn't know anything about this". He does this so as not to get HIS wife angry.

Wifey was thrilled that my buddy would rat me out to save himself.

Rule #1 of Manly-man: Don't rat out your buddies.

On the other hand, I have a great solution for many of you. Try taking an EMPTY gun case to a gun show. Tell Wifey you are trying to sell something. When you come back with a full case, she's none-the-wiser.
