I have the opertunity to aquire a BFR in 450 Marlin. I am a fan of the big revolvers, presently owning a 44 mag, and a 454 casull. Has any one ever fired one, and if you have, how does it compare with the recoil of a 454 casull?

I would also like to know if anyone ever reloaded that caliber for pistols?

I have shot the 450 Marlin with factory rifle loads, and it is a handful but manageable. It can be loaded down to a more manageable load in the BFR.

I own a 45-70 in a BFR and I load up to Marlin loads in it and it is equal to the 450 Marlin in the recoil and power department.

The 450 marlin may have a little more felt recoil than the 454 Casull is not real close.

If I can handle full loaded 500 Mags in my BFR, you will not have a problem with full house loads in the 450 Marlin.

Good luck and have fun.

I have a 7.5" BFR in both the 454 Casull and in 45-70.

I think the 454s recoil is sharper, but both are quite manageable with even max loads.

I just picked it up, and although it is a hand full, I would hunt with it in a heartbeat. It is a real nice gun, and is as smooth as a colt python. I reall like it.:D:D;)

The BFR is a great gun, for the price you basically get a custom handgun, but about $1200 less expensive.
