Had my new to me CZ52 out today and now have a major dilemma. I was shooting Romanian ammo and had the slide lock up tight. By tight, I mean it would move about a quarter of an inch. After much cussing and struggling I finally got the slide off of the frame.

Now I have a slide/barrel assembly with a live round in it and can't get it apart. All the while the corrosive primer salts are plotting against it's barrel.

What to do? Should I just take it back to AIM and see what they will do for me? I realize it is a surplus pistol and surplus ammo, but I do spend a good deal of money with them. The ammo came from them as well.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Are you positive there is a live round in it? I buy lots from AIM also, another local. I don't know if they could help you out or not. Give them a call, I don't know if they would want a live round chambered in the store.

Did you strip it and clean all the cosmo/gunk out of everything prior to shooting, even the firing pin channel?

I just looked at one of mine. I don't know if this will work or not--you might need another person to help you. I would push in the back part of the extractor all the way to get it off the case lip. WHile holding the extractor in I would then get a heavy flat screwdriver to push the barrel forward and lift up with the screwdriver.. I do this with the bottom side of the slide facing up, muzzle pointed away from you. Not to sound like I'm talking down to you but ,you do know how to get the barrel off right? If this don't seperate the slide from the barrel I don't know what to tell you. Make sure you have it pointed in a safe direction ALL THE TIME>

Be careful not to let the barrel go back to the "home" position once you start pushing it forward just in case your firing pin is sticking out by any chance, don't need a Accidental Discharge. Don't want or mean to scare you, just saying be real careful and cautious.

check out the following for disassembly instructions-- BEWARE though that in the disassembly photos the person is holding the muzzle towards themselves--don't do this, keep it pointed away from you. I use a screwdriver inserted into the slot on the bottom of the barrel in front of the roller cams (muzzle end), the person in the pics uses a punch in the cam hole instead. Originally the troops were to use the floorplate of the mag into the slot, but IMO the floorplates are too weak for this on a regular basis.

sigma 40ve,

I greatly appreciate your input. The fact that I am dealing with a jammed live round is what alarms me. Thus, trying to clear it in my appartment is not really an option. One of those 7.62x25's might penetrate AT least TWO layers of drywall.LOL.

Nevertheless, at least it's a 140.00 pistol. At the absolute worst I have a complete spare frame assembly. I will buy another, probably even if I get this one cleared. And it will be from AIM. I can't really blame them if a fifty-three year old pistol has issues using surplus ammo.

Have you heard of any issues with the Romanian 7.62x25? I seem to recall reading somewhere that some rounds have an OAL that exceeds specs. I wonder if that could be an issue with my pistol. Knowing what happened and how to minimize the chances of it happening again is what I really want to know.

Thanks again,

You're welcome. I have had a couple duds in everybox I shoot of the Romanian. I have shot alot of it. Where do you shoot? Next range trip try to clear it then, while pointed downrange.

sigma 40ve, I just joined the Miami Rifle and Pistol Club outside of Batavia. It's a really sweet facility. Just wish my inaugural visit would have went a little smoother!

I wouldn't have been quite so concerned about the jammed round except for the fact that the Romanian is corrosive. So, last night I swabbed the bore as best I could with hot water and flushed it out with WD40. Hopefully that will minimize the damage.
