The description on this handgun says "Makarov - .32 cal. - (6.5mm) - 7.62"

Is it a Makarov ... and if so what caliber is it ... :)

It doesn't look like mu (Russian) Makarov: The extractor and the ejection port are both too low on your pistol.

I suspect it's a PA 63, probably in 7.62 Makarov, aka 9x18; but it might be .380, aka 9x17, or 9mmkurz.

A good 'smith or knowledgable gus dealer :)rolleyes:) can enlighten you.

It's not a Makarov. It's a Hungarian PA-63 in 32 ACP. There's no 7.62 Makarov (you might be thinking of 7.62 Tokarev).

Thanks ... any input re. value ... looks to be in good shape. I'll have a chance to handle it on Thursday ... it's at a local auction house and lately the guns here have been selling for way too much ...

Simpler observation, I see a grip screw on the side, hence not a Mak. :D

No offense intended I just want to clear this up for others that may read this later. There is no 7.62 mak round. There is a 7.62x25 tokarov round that the CZ52 and TT shoot but it is way different than 9x18. 9x18 is a 9mm round so a 7.62mm could not be a 9mmx18 round. 7.65mm is the european designation for .32acp.

I was watching Dr No the other night and it was the scene where the armorer gives 007 his PPK because his Beretta .25 had jammed on him in a fight. He actually said "7.65mil, hits like a brick through a plate glass window". I don't know that I buy that line of reasoning :)

Thanks for your input ... I'll check back after the auction ends and let y'all know what it sells for ... in fact if it's in good condition and I can get it for cheap I'll buy it 'cause I've got some .32 acp kickin' around ... so far just about every gun I've seen in the past year at this auction house has sold for a lot more than it's worth ...
