I have a traditional style, caplock, that has no name on it, only a makers mark. It has a serial number on one side, and " for blackpowder only" on top, and the makes mark, and 50 cal. one the right side.
the mark looks like two half circles, one on top of the other. The bottom of the top half is an "M", and the top of the bottom half is the same. So the two "M"s are about 1/8 inch apart. The two legs of the "M"s are spread out, not virticle. There is no "made in (what ever country)" on the barrels. One gun and two barrels. a .50 cal, and a 32 cal. I have tried looking in books at the library. and also tried on line. The gun is "Hawkin" style.

Yeh..that's a Green Mountain barrel

The rifle itself could be anything from a CVA to a Thompson Center..need pic of rifle and lock to have a better chance of identifacation

actually my first thought was of two twin peaked mountains, one on top of the other in a circle. Then I noticed that the circle was broken.. The furniture is black metal, except the forend cap, and patch box which are brass. I tried drawing the mark with the windows paint program, lol. that did not work out too well. Not sure if I can get a clear photo of the mark or if I can get it down loaded. I'll see if I can look up Green Mountain, and see if I can find a picture of thier mark.
Thank your for your responses.
I'll see what I can do about downloading a picture, and or get back here with what I find.

Thank you for the Green Mountain lead. That's the mark exactly. The gun looks like a T/C, but they put their mark on their guns. So do the other people mentioned. Sure looks factory. I'm understanding that Green Mountain is a good name, so I'm happy. The barrel is the important part. Again thanks for the leads.
