Making a fixed blade from knifekits

Has anyone made a fixed blade from knifekits? I'm really looking for a custom fixed blade, but can't afford the price. It looks like I could get the price for a knife kit to be about 60 bucks.

1. Are the blades already heat treated?
2. Can I get steel better than AUS6 or 8? That's the only steel I saw on their website in a clip point or skinner profile.
3. Guessing they are already sharpened?
4. To put the handles on, I'm guessing you have to pattern the holes and outline of the handles, cut, epoxy, and place pins in?
5. Can I do everything with a simple dremel?

You can do it with only some files, a Dremel, and sandpaper.
But a belt sander and a buffer motor will produce much better results.

Yes, any of the kit or pre-ground blades should already be properly hardened & tempered.
