I'm a rather cheap individual, so saving money is important.

Additionally, I'm a huge fan of Hornady One Shot case lube, but at $8 for a 5.5oz aerosol bottle, that's not terribly affordable. Sure, it lasts a goodly amount of time, but it's still pricey.

Much like how one can make Ed's Red for cleaning and lubricating the guns themselves, I'd love to figure out some way of making homemade One Shot in a manual spray bottle (like a Windex bottle with a pistol-type sprayer).

Does anyone have any information about what they put into One Shot, or how one could make a generic liquid case lube that could be sprayed onto cases, and be similarly effective?

I have never used hornady one shot but I like yourself am always looking to save some money. The cheapest case lube I have found is the dollar store version of Pam Cooking Spray. I got the suggestion from this forum. I have been using it since I started reloading and have yet to have any issues. Probably cheaper than any thing you could make as well. Hope this helps.

Yes. I put my cases in a gallon size zip-lock bag and give them a couple of quick sprays with PAM cooking spray or the cheaper alternative from the Dollar Store. I then swish the brass around in the bag enough to get all the brass lubed and just resize right from the bag. It works well and cleans up with hot water and dish soap. I have learned it really doesn't take much and works great. Give it a try I don't think you will be disappointed and it is about the cheapest alternative out there.

Hmm. Interesting. I'll have to give this a shot (no pun intended) to see how well it works.

Is there any trick for drying out the cases? As they're made of brass, I doubt they'll corrode in any way if they're left to air dry, but I'd hate for them to be damaged in any way. I wish I had an air compressor...maybe tumbling the cases after being resized (but that can be a pain, and I'd need to pick out media, even though walnut shells don't really seem to get into the flash holes).

I thought my can of One Shot would go faster than it does, but it seems to last a good amount of time. I'll give the Pam a shot, but if not, I've got the One Shot.

Any comments with lube pads? It seems to be an easier way to apply case lube evenly to cases, but I've never used a lube pad before, just the Lee case lube stuff from the tube.

i haven't tried it, but there is a formula floating around for denatured alcohol and lee liquid alox that makes a case lube too.

i use the frankford arsenal stuff, works fine for me and at 5 dollars a bottle, i can swing it for now :)
