Found this in the Columbus Daily:
What are your thoughts? Was he targeted?
A Pickerington man was shot but not seriously injured after an intruder broke into his home early yesterday, police said.
Police said they were called to 349 Flat River St. in the Villages at Sycamore Creek development, where resident Nicholas Despas, 42, told them someone had broken in through a back door about 6:15 a.m. and started shooting at him.
Despas had his own gun, and the men traded shots inside the house, said Pickerington Sgt. Greg Annis.
Despas declined treatment at the scene but later drove himself to Grant Medical Center. The wound to his thigh was superficial, police said.
Police are still sorting out the motive for the break-in. Neighbors interviewed yesterday said they didn't socialize with Despas but said his house had been burglarized a few weeks ago. It was unclear whether that burglary was related to yesterday's shooting.
One neighbor was told by a friend of Despas' that the shooting did not appear to be random.
Shootings remain a rarity in Pickerington, Annis said.
The city's most recent homicide was in 2007, according to department statistics. Police have investigated about 50 assaults in each of the past three years, but most of them were not shootings.
