Manchester Commando Mark-45

I made sure I had the corner of the page in the shot to identify it, 1985 Guns and Ammo annual.

I ran the periodicals room at a library when I was in highschool, old habits die hard but I can still put my fingers on a book I picked up 38 years ago. ;)
The Annual!!! that right, I use to check out 3-4 of those at a time, my backpack was full! Didn’t know I was a gun nut at age 11!

I also recall those Thompson-esque guns being advertised, but I never saw one in a rack or gun case at the local gun store.

OP, if you do buy it I hope you can find what you need to get it running again.

Stay safe.

I actually picked it up last night, couldn't pass it up for the price. Taking to local gunsmith today to have it gone over. Will post pictures once I get it cleaned up. Thanks

I remember those and my uncle had one back in the early 80s. It was not reliable. Keep in mind this is a sample size of one. No parts interchange with original Thompsons with the possible exception of the buttstock. Neat looking gun though.

Back in the 90's I worked in a gun store and we got a Volunteer Arms model in. The boss let me take it out and shoot it. It was as close to a Thompson as I was ever going to get so I bought a couple boxes of .45 FMJ's and went to the farm. The trigger was lousy on it, spongy and loose. Accuracy was nothing to brag about. But it was fun to shoot and I ran through the ammo I had pretty quickly. No malfunctions or jams. It worked fine, but I could tell it would be an expensive toy. You tend to start having fun and forget how much ammo you're running through.
