This mark appeared on my bolt locking lug today. Is this anything to worry about? Rifle is 30-06 tikka t3.

Actually it's not. I took it to the store from which I bought it. Turns out it is a design tool mark and is on all Tikkas. We had some laughs at my expense!

Its a proof mark. I don't know enough about the indvidual stamp to say anything about it tho. I'm guessing this is the first time you've noticed it. Its a lion wearing a crown.

If you look at it from the left of the picture, (Or rotate the picture 90 degrees counter clockwise so it is standing up) it is very clearly a Crowned Lion stamp.
Which is the Finnish definitive final proof mark for smokeless powder firearms.

Fogadaboudtit!
It's supposed to be there.
And it was always there!

There was also a little sheet that came in your box that should explain the significance of the stamp. Oh well, live and learn, how does your rifle shoot?

That's a factory defect. Send it back and demand an immediate replacement!!!

:)

send it to me and i will proof test it for 10 years or so, just to make sure its safe to use. eastbank.

Don't feel dumb, OP. you should observe my education here about ordering browning parts from browning and fire-formed brass, among other stuff others here have taught me.

Let us know how she shoots!
