Not wanting to get my hand slapped for being disparaging, I merely want to note that, like Kleenex, some terms have become generic. Ruger's first pistol was called the Standard Model. They later brought out two versions with target sights and called them Mark Is. After the end of the a standards run, all new models carried Mark designations, like II, III, IX. Had many folks come in the store to sell a "really nice Mark I" when it was the plain Standard. They both are getting scarce.
It is probably an insignificant fact but in pricing guns the proper designation is important.

Huge difference between heel mag release and button release. Otherwise the guns look and feel very similar so I understand the confusion but it is frustrating when mis-labeled.

I once saw a guy try to sell an “m16 30-06” which was a pretty basic AR and a box of 30-06 ammo that he had inherited and knew nothing about but assumed that they went together. It can get worse when people think they know but really don’t.

Its confusing for the layman since production of the Standard and Mk1 overlapped, and the difference basically disappeared with the Mark 2.
Throw in the pre and post A100 frame revisions and it becomes really obtuse.
They are all great, and I don't think theres a huge price differential between any of the guns prior to the Mk3.

When I bought my last Standard, I noticed the pawn shop had booked it in as a Mark 1. I mentioned the inaccuracy to the clerk and he looked at me like I was on crack.....

I hate the warning labels.
And prefer the push button mag release.
But dont want a LCI

So id have to build one.

Said screw it and just got a Buckmark.
The 75th anniv model is interesting, but do all MK4 blued have alloy frames?

No go if so.

Id have to buy two guns to build the one I want. Yeeesh

The MK2 to my understanding, is when the last round hold open was added.

I certainly sympathize with anyone confused. When I picked this one up I remember digging through the available information to find out anything I could, and I was surprised at the different names, styles, and changes through the 30 year run of the Standard/MKI.

Haven’t heard of the Mark 9. Maybe in a few more decades.

Even with an oxy and a muscle relaxer under my belt I'm not too fuzzy to have missed that. They sure are playing hob with my typing though. My fingers don't want to go where they are aimed although I only made 5 mistakes in that last sentence and my spelling skills are not so hot either.
