I picked up an 1894 and the sights on it are pretty beat up. Since I have it torn apart for stock refinishing I figured might as well toss some new sights on it too.

Ideally I'd like to get replacement notch/post style sights that fit into the factory dove tails, but I'd also like something that I can adjustable windage and elevation with just a screwdriver.

I looked at Lyman and Williams but neither seem to have what I'm looking for, any recommendations for a manufacture that might?

I'm not aware of any sights as you described but, the Skinner sights are a very good upgrade.

I recently ordered a pair of the tactical "winged" sights from Skinner for my 1894 Cowboy Ltd and 1894CSS. I also ordered a tactical front sight for the .357 Mag (adjustable for elevation from .425" to .500") and standard front sight for the .45 Colt along with .040" and .070" apertures for working up loads. The sights come standard with a .096" aperture. Andy offered to ship the items for free since I spent quite a bit of money on his products. If his sights are as good as his CS I'll be very pleased.

Me too!! I wish Andy made something similar for my .45 Colt Cowboy Ltd with the octagonal barrel. I sent him an email asking if it'd be feasible to machine the underside of the front tactical site flat and then drill/tap the barrel. It'd probably require a spacer to raise the front sight up but I'd be a lot happier on a pig hunt knowing that my front sight won't drift if banged.

I wanted skinner, but when it actually came time to put the money down I bought a williams 5d for 30 bucks instead. what can I say, I'm cheap. works great through, even if I wouldn't beat on it with a hammer like I could with a skinner tactical. :)

I have the Marbles full buckhorn windage elevation adjustable rear and a front ivory bead, plus the Lyman # 2 tang sight.

Marbles makes a flip up leaf stye windage, elevation adjustable rear, you can lay it flat if you decide to mount a scope or if it interferes with a tang sight.

I have a Skinners tactical rear for my 1894c with a XS front. The adjustment is somewhat a pain in the rear but once set it is rock solid. I like how the tactical looks and it's function is excellent but due to the nature of the design it isn't easy to adjust for elevation or windage.

I also have used the XS rear peep sight. I didn't like the design as it had a solid post going through the threaded hole on the receiver and only one machine screw otherwise. It was solid enough, but I also didn't like the huge aperture with it. The skinner sights have a threaded one to use as either a ghost ring or a smaller one.

Thanks everybody for the recommendations, after researching some more it does look like a receiver mount is going to be the best solution.

Looking at the options out there and wanting to keep as simple as possible, it seems the skinner sight is exactly what I'm looking for. I'll try that alone and decide from there if I need to upgrade/modify the front sight post.

Just to top off this old thread, I ended up going with the Skinner sight but for the life of me couldn't get the elevation down where it belonged, even with as tall as 0.560" tall replacement front sight posts. What I ended up having to do was hollow out the base of the skinner sight so the rear aperture stem would go further down, and order up a 0.600" tall front sight post from skinner to drift into the front. Only after that was I actually able to get this thing to zero at 100 yards, but now it's done and I'm very happy.
