If anyone out there has recently bought a marlin 1895 SBL, check to see if it has the correct barrel. There was an issue at the plant that caused a bunch of rifles to go out with 1895 GS barrels on them. They also have an extra dovetail cut into the barrel.

Other than the aesthetics, and it being stamped wrong that could effect a future resale price. it functions the same.

I was told 3-6 weeks for repair. This is disappointing to say the least.

As long as it is safe to shoot I'd say keep it. Depending on how many they made like this it could be worth something in 50 years.

But if they are willing to fix it free of charge then I'd send it back. 3 to 6 weeks is not that long. At least, I assume, they were honest and are willing to fix it for free. Doesn't get better than free. And I imagine that a production run is a fairly high number so I'd be willing to bet they have a lot of folks sending rifles back to be fixed.

marlin SBL

Yeah, they didn't try to blow me off at all. They immediately recognized is was their issue and it was known. Some issues with the plant moving....CNC machine issues, etc. They immediately said they would send a prepaid UPS label and it would be covered N/C. I'd rather have he proper barrel

Its just the 3-6 weeks thats killing me.
