Marlin 22lr 25N

I have been looking for decent 22lr. Was at LGS today and found a used Marlin 22lr 25N (wood) in excellent condition that could pass as new with Tasco scope and swivel mounts for sling marked at $230. Could have bought for $225 OTD with (2) magazines. Almost bought but seemed a bit high priced and left without it. Was that a decent price?

Not an outstanding deal, but still fair. I find the 25N to be finished nicer than the newer rifles.

I'd look for one in the $150 price range plus value of scope. It was the first gun I ever bought back in the mid 80's. it shoots 1 hole groups at 25 yards with CCI Standard velocity and 1/2" groups at 50 yards.
Note, the newer 10rd mags work with these too.

I bought a new 925 (replaced the 25) for $200. Most Tasco scopes will add very little to the value of a gun. It depends on which one it is of course but they don't make a lot of good ones.

I did love the looks of my 925. It was beautiful. And yes I sold it. I just had too many Marlins and I wasn't shooting that one at all.
