Marlin lever action

On the left side of my Marlin 36 AS receiver, to the rear and top there are two small screws. While checking all screws to be tight I found one of these screws to be lose. While trying to tighten it up it just kept going. I did take the screw out added a dab of loctite and backed it out flush with the receiver. What is the function of these two screws? thanks hdbiker

They were drilled at the factory for a receiver (peep) sight. They do not tighten up. If you screw them in too much they will interfere with bolt travel.

They are referred to as "plug screws". They fill holes that aren,t used. I hope you used a removable Loctite or you'll never get them out.
